The meeting Films in manufactoring will be fellowed by an encounter with Alice Riff (Brasil), laureate of the residency organized by Cinélatino with her documentary The Policeman and the Priestess.

This exchange is organized in partnership with Occitanie Films and the Médiathèque José Cabanis. It is preceded at 2:30 p.m. by Films in manufacturing with the presentation of three co-production projects between Occitanie and Latin America.

Alice Riff will bein residency at the lycée agricole de Castelnaudary for 3 weeks in March 2022. Between practical exercises, theoretical perspective and exploration of the work of the director, the students will be guided in the filming process to do a short documentary films around the concept of the portrait.

 

 

Alice Riff, born in 1984, is a Brazilian filmmaker, from São Paulo. She directed Mon corps est Politique (71', 2017, Visons du Réel); Elections (100', 2018, Dok Leipzig). She is executive producer of Histoires que notre cinéma (n') a (pas) racontées (Fernanda Pessoa, 80’, 2017, Cinélatino - Rencontres de Toulouse).

 

 

The Policeman and the Priestess

The Policeman and the Priestess is a feature-length documentary that builds a portrait of two characters: an evangelical feminist pastor and an anti- fascist policeman. From the encounter of the director and the characters, the film investigates the idea of the portrait, and the borders between documentary and fiction.

Géraldine Durand-Dosdat, occitanie Films Deputy director

Géraldine Durand-Dosdat is the co-director of Occitanie Films. Originally from Toulouse, she worked for 13 years in the cinema and audiovisual sector before joining Occitanie Films (formerly know as Languedoc-Roussillon Cinéma) in 2018. During her ongoing career, she has worked in France and also overseas for almost ten years. Her work experience in various fields of the cinema and audiovisual sector includes film producing in France, cultural diplomacy for the French embassies in Thailand and New York City and movie distribution in Bogota. She also served as programmer for the Cartagena de Indias Film Festival and the Biarritz Latin-American Film Festival.
