Note of intent

If we had to describe Zépon we could say that it is a timeless Creole tale, the action could totally takes place in 2010 as in 1960, 70 or 80. There are places and people in the West Indies that you would think are suspended in time. Zépon speaks of redemption, of second chance but also of father/child relations (that is the essential problem of the 3 main characters: Viézo/Victor/Chabin). How to find your place and emancipate yourself against strong ascendants. It is also a window open to the Creole soul, its state of mind; this mixture of pride, pragmatism, humor, invention of language.

Synopsis

Following a bet a man plays his only daughter on a cockfight. The action takes place today in Martinique.

Visual concept

Zépon will be filmed essentially with the camera on shoulder. At man’s height, at the heart of the story and its characters. It is as the viewer was living this story from the inside. This involves a mobile camera serving the movements and emotions of the actors. And although the story lingers on the fairy tale side, it is important to anchor it in a reality (to take off better from time to time) that is why we will give preference to the maximum natural scenery and light.
