Despite the heaviest rain in over ten years, the region is suffering its worst drought in a decade. María Cartagena, 49, looks after her daughter Teresa only a few kilometres from the border between Chile and Argentina. She dreams of living in the capital with the brother she hasn’t seen for more than thirty years. To succeed, María must leave her daughter for the summer and travel by microbus to the different places that offer work in the grape season.

En 2009 Sergio Castro présente son premier long-métrage Paseo aux festivals de BAFICI, de Cartagena de Indias, de Londres, de Lisbonne, de Trieste, de Valdivia et de Santiago (SANFIC5). Ce dernier lui décerne le prix du meilleur film chilien. En 2010, son deuxième film El frío misterio remporte le prix du meilleur documentaire au festival Inedit Chile. Il prépare actuellement son nouveau film El Paraíso avec le scénariste et réalisateur argentin Alejandro Fadel.
