El lugar del hijo is the story of a student who is being told of his father’s death and has to travel to Salto, a town in the center of the country to attend his funeral. In Salto he discovers that his father left him a farm with debts and a house in town with a lover who expects to keep the place and settles down there with him.
It is a story of rootlessness and of personal reconstruction, a metaphor on the inherited country and the youth which at some point has to deal with it.
Manuel Nieto
MANUEL NIETO (Montevideo, 1972) a étudié les Sciences de la Communication à l’Université Catholique de l’Uruguay entre 1991 et 1995. Il a tout d’abord travaillé au sein de la télévision libre uruguayenne en tant que responsable de production jusqu’à ses débuts au Cinéma en 1999. En 2005, il a participé à Cinéma en Construction avec son premier films, La Perrera. Il crée Roken Films en 2007 avec le but de développer de façon indépendante son projet actuel.
