Note of intent
Over the years I have been quarreling with fatherhood. I seek new ways to become a parent because through the years my failures seem too evident. I feel that the calm and knowledgeable word seems to be short of graspable. So I continue to seek, to abandon my old ways in the pursuit of true re-invention. In the process of this 9 year long film project that began 6 years ago, I seek a new current that will allow me to surrender to an interrupted change in terms of parenting.
Synopsis
Three small children navigate the strange world around them, full of life, death, innocence and redemption. Nine fragments over nine years sewn through the fantastic threat in which they observe life and how their father observes them in pursuit of newness.
Visual concept
In 2015 I began this project in which I follow and film my children one week out of each year. In each segment, through fantastic stories told by them I expose my changing incapacities as a father. I decided to repeat this task for the following nine years. In the process of executing these nine fragments I seek a new current that will allow me to surrender to an interrupted change in terms of parenting.
