Synopsis :
Tomas, a young boy driven from Colombia's Pacific coast by the war, tries to get by in Bogota, a racist city with 8 million inhabitants. Looking for Jairo, his younger brother lost in the streets, Tomas sets out on a voyage that will test his courage in the face of the fear, nostalgia and the wounds of the past.

Director's biography:
Juan Andrés Arango studied film at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and specialized in photography at the ESCAC in Barcelona. He directed the documentaries Los Vega and Dos fandangos, and Les papiers bruns, winner of the Arts Council Award in Québec. His short films Eloisa y Las Nieves and Comment apprendre à dire bonjour en 10 étapes, won the Audience Award at the Laussane Shortfilm Festival.
Production notes:
La playa DC is being developed by two producers Diana Bustamante, producer of The Wind Journeys (Cannes, Toronto, San Sebastián 2009) and the Crab Trap (FIPRESCI Award, Berlin, 2010). Jorge Andrés Botero and his production company Séptima Films have produced many documentaries since 2006. La playa DC was shot in May 2011. The film received support from the Colombian Film Fund and Ibermedia Program. In the development stage, La Playa was invited to Rio Market, the Mannheim Meetings, Bafici's BAL and Cartagena Producers Meetings.
