Synopsis :
Ray and Ramona are a young couple. They hate the injustice of the social context they are part of. Each from their own niche -Ramona as a musician, Ray as an activist- try to fight for a more just world. Devoted to self-sabotage, Ray fails in his rebellion and drags Ramona into a downward spiral that culminates in an act of poetic terrorism.
Director's biography:
Born in Nairobi, Kenya, to Mexican Parents. He studied Philosophy at UNAM, and later and MFA Columbia University, New York. He wrote the screenplay for Deficit, a film directed by Gael García Bernal, and has been executive producer for Drama/Mex, Cochochi and Voy-a-explotar, among other films. He has also published two books of short stories. Machete Language is his first feature film as writer/director.
Production notes:
Mr. Woo is a production company born four years ago with its headquarters in Mexico City. Our field is commercials and film production. In 2007 we produced the documentary Logósferas for Televisa, and were associate producers of Cochochi, by Laura Amelia Guzmán and Israel Cárdenas, winner of a prize at Toronto Festival, among others. In 2009, we took our first steps as executive producers in Gerardo Naranjo's Voy-a-explotar, winner of the FIPRESCI Award at Thessaloniki.
